Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Hood College's Nate Luscombe threw a complete game four-hitter as the Blazers opened their spring break trip with a 7-1 victory over Lancaster Bible College.
Inside the Box Score
- A sophomore, Luscombe struck out 10 and walked just one. All four hits he allowed were singles. He retired 17 straight batters until a runner reached with two outs in the ninth. But he struck out the final batter of the evening to finish the complete game.
- Cam Esposito finished with two hits, including a double.
- Jordan Patterson walked twice and stole a base.
- Dylan Johnson walked twice and had a sacrifice fly.
How it Happened
- The Chargers scored in the top of the first, but a two-run single by Drake Friend in the second gave the Blazers the lead.
- Hood added two more runs in the third and three in the sixth to pull away. In the third, Warrenfeltz led off the inning with an infield single. Greenberg followed with a base hit to left field, but the ball was misplayed, allowing Warrenfeltz to score. Greenberg later came home on Johnson's sacrifice fly for a 4-1 lead.
- In the sixth, Dylan Beck led off with a single and Esposito's double moved them into scoring position. Greenberg knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly and an error later in the inning made it 6-1. An RBI single by Nathan Kessler resulted in the final run.
Notes
- Nate Burns took the loss for Lancaster Bible. He went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits and five walks. He struck out six.
- Will Welsh had an RBI single in the first inning.
