Box Score 2 WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Hood College softball team won both ends of a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth doubleheader at Lycoming 3-2 and 8-0.
In the second game, which ended after six innings, Roo Saglimbeni and Sophia Leaman hit back-to-back home runs, while combining for seven hits. Saglimbeni had four hits in the game to tie the school record. Leaman tossed a two-hit shutout for the Blazers in game two.
HOOD 3, LYCOMING 2
- Kayli Paugh struck out eight and scattered eight hits and two walks in a complete game victory.
- The Warriors struck first with a RBI double by Morgan Kunes to make it 1-0 in the first inning.
- The Blazers tied the game in the third with three straight singles by Kristen Scott, Kristy Erfurdt and Jess Sedgwick.
- Hood took the lead with a two-run fourth. Leaman walked to lead off the inning and moved to third on a passed ball. Shelby Alcorn knocked her in with a single for a 2-1 lead. Scott added a sacrifice fly in the inning for an insurance run.
- Lycoming scored on a two-out single by Ashley Schoenstadt to make it 3-2 in the fifth, but Paugh escaped the jam without further damage.
- Leaman and Paugh each reached base twice for Hood. Leaman singled and walked, while Paugh drew a pair of bases on balls.
- Schoenstadt and Kline both had two-hit games for Lycoming. Rachael Shay took the loss, giving up five hits, five walks and three runs in seven innings.
HOOD 8, LYCOMING 0 (6 INNINGS)
- Back-to-back homers by Saglimbeni and Leaman to lead off the second proved to be more than enough for Leaman.
- She allowed just two hits and a walk in the shutout.
- Saglimbeni tied the Hood record with four hits in a game, going 4 for 4 with three runs scored. Leaman went 3 for 4 and Alcorn was 3 for 3 with a walk.
- Hood scored five runs in the third to extend the lead to 7-0. Erfurdt and Sedgwick had back-to-back doubles to make it 3-0. Hood loaded the bases and singles by Leaman and Alcorn made it 5-0. A sacrifice fly by Webster and a base hit by Barron each drove in a run.
- A RBI fielder's choice by Katelyn Long in the sixth gave the Blazers their eighth run of the game.
- Hannah Boop took the loss, giving up five runs on five hits and two walks in 2.1 innings.
Notes
- Hood improved to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the MAC Commonwealth.
- Lycoming is 7-6 and 0-4.
