Box Score 2 READING, Pa. - The Hood College softball team split its Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth doubleheader at Albright. The Lions won game one 3-2, but the Blazers rebounded for a 1-0 victory in the nightcap.
Kristy Erfurdt and Jess Sedgwick hit solo home runs in the first game. Sophia Leaman twirled her third shutout of the year in the nightcap, allowing just two hits and no walks.
ALBRIGHT 3, HOOD 2
- Sedgwick's first homer of the year put Hood ahead 1-0 in the second, but a RBI double by Stephany Courtney in the third tied the game.
- In the fourth, Brianne Long had a RBI triple and scored on a single by Kelly Cembrale to put Albright ahead 3-1.
- Erfurdt slugged her third home run of the season in the sixth but Hood could not complete the comeback.
- The solo homers were the only hits allowed by Riley Gerenda in the game.
- Kayli Paugh took the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits. She struck out four and walked two.
HOOD 1, ALBRIGHT 0
- Leaman outdueled Gerenda, who pitched both ends of the twinbill for Albright, in game two.
- Leaman struck out five and allowed just three base runners in six innings. She needed just 53 pitches to get through the win.
- The Blazers scored the game's only run in the third. Erfurdt reached on an error and scored on a RBI single by Roo Saglimbeni.
- Erfurdt had two hits in the game.
- Katelyn Long walked twice.
