Box Score 2 FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College softball team dropped both ends of a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth doubleheader to Widener 1-0 and 7-3.
Shelby Alcorn had a home run among her two hits in game two. Roo Saglimbeni homered in that game, as well.
In the opener, Kayli Paugh was outdueled by Katie Rabuck. Rabuck tossed a five-hit shutout, while Paugh allowed one run on seven hits and did not walk a batter.
WIDENER 1, HOOD 0
- A RBI single by Olivia Rogers in the fourth accounted for all of the scoring.
- Five different players had one hit for Hood.
- Rabuck struck out six and walked one. Paugh fanned two.
WIDENER 7, HOOD 3
- Hood took a 2-0 lead in the second, but three-run innings in the third and seventh for the Pride doomed the Blazers.
- Saglimbeni homered to lead off the second and later in the inning, a Jasmine Webster RBI single made it 2-0.
- A triple by Ally Horvath started a three-run third for Widener. After she scored on a bunt single by Jamie Gosselin, an error allowed the Pride to take a 3-2 lead.
- Widener scored once in the fifth and a three-run homer by Lauren DelRomano in the top of the seventh made it 7-2.
- Alcorn led off the seventh with a homer, but the Blazers could get no closer.
- Horvath had three hits and threw a complete game for the win. Sophia Leaman took a complete game loss.
- Webster had two hits in the game.
