FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College volleyball won the first set but Gettysburg escaped BB&T Arena with a 3-1 win in non-conference volleyball action.

Gettysburg won 20-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-11.

• Kari Betson had 11 kills and added four blocks and 12 digs. 
• Elena Zinaich had six total blocks on the night. 
• Payton Belella dished out 21 assists and tallied 11 digs. 
• Renee Reus accumulated a team-high 21 digs. 

How it Happened

• Gettysburg led 16-15 in the first set, forcing a Hood timeout. The Blazers won the next three points, including a kill by Betson and a block by Betson and Hutchinson to take an 18-15 lead. A kill by Tailyn Kite finished the set, 25-20, for Hood. 
• The Bullets led just 18-15 in the second set before a 7-0 run finished evened the match. 
• Runs of 8-0 and 10-2 in the third and fourth sets lifted Gettysburg to the four-set win. 

Notes

• Maddie Weikert had 12 kills. 
• Stephanie Blair tallied 31 assists, 20 digs, and four aces. 
• Shannon Fletcher finished with five blocks.
