FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College softball team dropped both ends of the non-conference doubleheader with visiting McDaniel 5-2 and 7-0. 

Inside the Box Scores

• Katelyn Long went 2 for 5 in the doubleheader with an RBI and a sacrifice. 
• Kaitlin Barron had a hit and was hit by a pitch twice. 
• Jules Baker reached base on a single, a walk and a hit by pitch. 
• Maddie Walter and Kiley Banks each pitched complete games. Walter allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits and two walks. Banks doubled at the plate but took the loss in game two. She allowed seven runs, six earned on nine hits and three walks. 

McDaniel 5, Hood 2

• The Green Terror scored four runs in the sixth to erase a 2-1 deficit for the win. 
• Hood struck first with an RBI single by Long that knocked in Cailyn Barthlow. 
• After McDaniel tied the game in the fourth, the Blazers reclaimed the lead in the fifth. Baker and Barthlow led off the inning with singles. A base hit by Barron with one out scored Baker for a 2-1 lead. 
• In the sixth, the Green Terror scored via a fielder's choice, an Alicia Wagner single, a Madison Froemel double and a Haley Michael sacrifice fly. 
• Long had two hits, while Barthlow added a hit and a walk. 
• Krista Waller got the win in relief. She allowed one run on four hits in four innings, striking out two. 

McDaniel 7, Hood 0

• Paige Bleyer and Waller combined on a two-hit shutout for the Green Terror to complete the sweep. 
• Bleyer went 4.1 innings, allowing two hits and three walks. Waller pitched 2.2 hitless innings to end the game. 
• McDaniel produced a four-run third inning to break the game open. 
• Michaela Persinger had a bases-loaded triple to open the scoring and came home on a double by Froemel to make it 4-0. 
• Banks led off the bottom of the inning with a double but was stranded at second. 
• A Kristina Shank triple in the fourth made it 5-0 and runs in the fifth and seventh innings put the game out of reach. 
• Banked doubled and walked at the plate. 
• Megan Horsey had two hits, while Mattie Whalen scored twice.
