Mason Wang had 28 points and 10 rebounds but Alvernia defended its home court in a 71-68 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play.

How it Happened
- Hood trailed early, 12-9, before Smalls tied the game with a 3-pointer with 10:47 remaining in the first half. The bucket sparked a 14-2 run as an Evan Wang 3-pointer made it 23-14 at the 7:02 mark. The Golden Wolves scored the next six points and pulled 23-20 on a Mickeel Allen 3-pointer with 4:53 on the clock. Ryan Hollwedel stopped the Alvernia run with a 3-pointer 35 seconds later. His long range shot started a 16-3 run to close the half that included three 3-pointers by Mason Wang for a 39-23 lead at the break.
- Hood shot 50 percent in the first half, including a robust 7-of-10 from 3-point range. Alvernia, meanwhile, connected on only 7-of-36 first half field goals (19 percent).
- Another 3-pointer by Smalls gave Hood its biggest lead 42-28 just over a minute into the second half. A 17-6 run followed for the Golden Wolves, who trailed just 48-45 with 13:22 left in the game on a Keon Taylor layup.
- Hood extended the lead back to nine on a Wang layup midway through the half for a 56-47 edge. Alvernia responded with a 10-0 run to take its first lead since the game's opening minutes. Steve Pierce hit a 3 to tie the game and a free throw by Justin Thomas made it 57-56 with 7:03 left. After the Blazers tied the game, Thomas sank a 3-pointer for a 60-57 lead that was quickly erased as the teams jockeyed back and forth. Wang scored four straight points to put Hood ahead 61-60 with 5:25 on the clock before another 3-point field goal by Pierce reclaimed the advantaged for the Golden Wolves.
- Wang scored Hood's final 11 points of the game with the Blazers and Alvernia exchanging the lead six times in the final seven minutes. Hood led 68-67 with 2:19 left after a pair of free throws from Wang. Allen scored on the Golden Wolves' next trip to give Alvernia the lead for good. A jumper by Thomas in the game's final minute put the game out of reach.
