Men's basketball drops road game

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Hood College men's basketball team fell 85-72 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action at Arcadia.

  • Michael Riley led Hood with 26 points, going 6-of-13 from 3-point range. 
  • Mason Wang added 20 points.
  • Tyler Evans went 6-of-7 at the free throw line and finished with 11 points. 
  • Evan Wang dished out a career-high nine assists and tied Riley and his brother Mason for the team-high with seven rebounds. 
How it Happened
  • The second half was game of runs by each team. Hood opened the period with a 14-3 run. Mason Wang scored the first 11 points of the surge to give the Blazers their first lead. He then stole the ball and Evans took a pass in transition from Evan Wang and hit a 3-pointer for a 48-41 lead with 17:58 left.
  • Steve Pendleton answered back for the Knights with a 3-point field goal of his own to spark a 30-8 run over the next 10 minutes. Pendleton and Da'kquan Davis combined to score 21 points in the run, which resulted in a 71-56 edge for Arcadia with 8:04 remaining. Hood never pulled closer than nine the rest of the way.
  • In the first half, Arcadia opened the contest with a 21-9 run as Hood started the game just 2-for-12 shooting. 
  • Hood used a 9-0 run to pull within 35-34 with less than a minute left in the half before settling for a 38-34 deficit at the half. Christopher Smalls hit a 3-pointer to open the run, followed by a pair of 3-pointers by Riley. 
Notes
  • The two teams combined for 28 3-point field goals in the game, with Hood going 13-of-34 (38 percent) and Arcadia converting 15-of-34 (44 percent). Shooting inside the arc proved to be the difference as the Knights went 15-of-25 (60 percent). 
  • The Blazers went 19-of-26 at the line (73 percent), whereas Arcadia struggled in its free attempts, going 10-of-21 (48 percent). 
  • Hood held a 24-11 edge in fast break points. 
  • The loss drops the Blazers to 14-9 overall and 7-7 in the MAC Commonwealth. Arcadia moved to 9-5 in the conference and 14-9 on the season.
