Women's basketball downed by Knights

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Hood College women's basketball team fell to Arcadia 72-65 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play.

  • Mia Savoy recorded 20 points, four assists and seven rebounds on the afternoon.
  • Celestria Hill added 15 points and seven rebounds along with two steals, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor. 
  • Lauren Keeney finished with 12 points and six rebounds.
How it Happened
  • The Blazers got off to a tough start when Arcadia went on a 10-2 run in the first four minutes of play. Hood answered back with a three-point shot, bringing the score to 10-5 in favor of the Knights. Arcadia pulled away once more, going on a 13-4 run to lead the Blazers 23-9 to end the first quarter. 
  • Hood outscored the Knights 18-13 in the second quarter to cut the difference to a mere seven points at halftime, 36-29. Hill scored eight of her 15 total points in the second quarter, while the Blazers shot 54 percent (7-of-13). 
  • A layup from Savoy in the first six seconds of the third quarter brought the Blazers within five, but Arcadia's Taylor Dunn answered with a layup of her own, paving the way for her to score 12 of her 23 points in the third quarter. Hood trailed 56-43 at the end of the third.
  • After leading by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter, Arcadia's lead was cut to six when Savoy made a 3-point shot in the final 18 seconds of play. Haley Still sunk a free throw shot with 16 seconds left on the clock to finalize Arcadia's 72-65 win.
Notes
  • Dunn recorded 23 points, eight rebounds and two steals on the afternoon.
  • Sidney Barrer tied Dunn with a team-high eight rebounds.
