Men's lacrosse drops season opener

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's lacrosse team fell to the visiting Hornets of Shenandoah with a final score of 16-8.

Inside the Box Score How it Happened
  • The Hornets started off strong with two goals in the first 30 seconds of play. After tough defense from Shenandoah, Upman's goal in the last two and a half minutes put the Blazers on the board with a 4-1 score at the end of the first quarter.
  • Upman scored again to open the second quarter, scoring in the first 60 seconds. Shenandoah answered back with a quick goal from Chris Baker less than 30 seconds later. Baker's goal ignited a 6-0 run for the Hornets to end the quarter, leading the Blazers 11-2 at halftime.
  • Hood's defense kept the Hornets at bay in the third quarter, limiting Shenandoah to just five shots. A goal from Jason Jaworski with 2:39 remaining in the quarter provided the Blazers with some momentum heading into the final quarter.
  • LeBarron scored three of his four goals in the fourth quarter, including one man-up goal with three seconds left to play. The last-minute goal brought the final score to 16-8 in Shenandoah's favor.
For the Opponent
  • Chris Baker led all players with five goals along with two assists and four ground balls. Tyler Held added four goals while Jason Morgan recorded two caused turnovers.
  • Jason Simpson made 19 saves.

  • Shenandoah is now 2-1 overall.
  • Hood is 0-1 on the season.
