WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Hood College men's lacrosse team held Washington & Jefferson scoreless for the final 19 minutes and 15 seconds to erase a one-goal deficit and win 12-9 in non-conference play.

How it Happened
- LeBarron and Upman scored to open the third quarter to put the Blazers ahead 8-7 with 9:01 left in the quarter. Mark Mandak tied the game with a man-up goal at the 5:10 mark and, less than a minute later, Benjamin Ward gave the Presidents a 9-8 lead.
- Ward's goal with 4:15 on the clock in the third quarter proved to be the last the Hood defense allowed.
- Hood still trailed entering the fourth quarter. Gilbert won the opening face off and after a shot by Combe was wide seven seconds into the period, Michael Mullen found the back of the net at 14:13 to tie the game.
- W&J won the next faceoff but Ward was turned away by Lazorchak. Combe took a feed from LeBarron at 13:13 for what proved to be the game-winner.
- The Blazers held the Presidents to only four shots over the final 13 minutes, only one of which was on goal.
- Upman scored at 7:44 for an 11-9 lead and LeBarron picked up the final goal a 1:40 to seal the win.
- Washington & Jefferson scored the first two goals of the contest. Alex Strain put the Presidents ahead 1-0 at 13:26 and assisted on a man-up goal by Pat Brunner at 12:05. Combe added a pair of goals for Hood in the opening period as the two teams headed to the second quarter tied at 3-3.
- The Blazers took the lead three times in the second quarter, only for W&J to tie the game each time. The Presidents turned the ball over after winning the opening face off with Matt Macenka picking up the ground ball. Hood turned the possession into an Upman goal with a LeBarron assist for a 4-3 lead at 13:50. Brunner scored to tie the game before Upman took advantage of a W&J penalty for a 5-4 lead at 7:38 with an assist from Mullen. Brunner would find Strain to lock the score at 5-5 with 6:57 to go. Gilbert won the faceoff and Kyle Scott made the score 6-5 a minute later.
- Ward and Brunner both scored down the stretch to send Washington & Jefferson into the locker room with a 7-6 lead.
Analysis
- Hood won 20-of-25 faceoffs in the game and held a 37-21 advantage in ground balls.
- The Blazers outshot W&J 52-35.
- The Presidents went 3-for-5 on extra man opportunities and limited Hood to just 1-for-4.
