Baseball battles RIT, daylight to secure first win

FREDERICK, Md. - Back-to-back two-run doubles in the bottom of the sixth gave Hood a come-from-behind 8-6 win in game two of a non-conference doubleheader against RIT.

The Blazers trailed 6-4 in the sixth when Trent Copenhaver hit one into the right-center gap to knock in Brad Sawyer and Daniel Shepherd to tie the game. Nick Rampone followed and knocked in Jordan Patterson and Copenhaver for an 8-6 lead.

The game was then called due to darkness.

Game one
  • Hood scored on a sacrifice fly in the first before RIT erupted for eight runs in the fourth to break things open. Ian Libby and Dan Capra each had RBI triples in the inning, while Patrick Blackall's double made it 8-1 at the end of the inning.
