Women's lacrosse falls to Hornets

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's lacrosse team dropped their non-conference matchup against visiting Lynchburg with a final score of 17-8.

Inside the Box Score  How it Happened
  • Lynchburg got off to a hot start with a 6-0 run in the first 11 minutes of play. A free position shot from Jess Lyons put the Blazers on the board with 17:55 left in the half. The Hornets answered back with another 6-0 run, leading Hood 12-1 with 8:30 left. Turner scored her first goal of the game with 1:11 left to play, bringing the score to 12-2 at the half.
  • The Hornets started the second half with another strong effort, going on a 4-0 run to lead the Blazers 16-2 with 17:12 left to play. Samy Brandt picked up a ground ball and scored with 15:03 on the clock, igniting a 5-0 run for the Blazers. Turner's second goal capped off Hood's scoring, bringing the deficit down to eight points with 2:36 left to play. A goal from Lynchburg's Dara Gregory finalized the score at 17-8 in favor of the Hornets.
For the Opponent
  • Kelsi Trevisan and Leah Dumas scored four goals apiece. Trevisan also dished out two assists while Dumas added two caused turnovers, two draw controls, and one ground ball.
