Men's soccer ends in draw against McDaniel

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's soccer team hosted McDaniel College for the final non-conference game of the season which resulted in a 0-0 tie. 

Inside the Box Score How It Happened
  • Castillo controlled the box and took numerous free kicks, corners, and crosses out of the air.
  • Hood's best opportunities to score came in the second overtime period. Will Picone headed the ball on a corner kick by Cristian Urbina in the 108th minute of the game. 
  • The next opportunity for Hood to take the double-overtime victory was in the 109th minute when Marcus French shot a ball headed to the upper right corner, but McDaniel's Johnathan Mingone got a last-second touch on the shot to keep the game tied at zero. 
  • McDaniel's best chance of the game was off a penalty kick opportunity taken by Gage Souder who sent the ball too far left in the 82nd minute.
Analysis
  • McDaniel earned the advantage over Hood 21-10 in shots and 11-7 in corner kicks. 
  • Both teams played competitive, tough defense that resulted in a combined 27 fouls in the 110 minutes of play.

  • McDaniel's Mingone held strong in the net and recorded two saves for the Green Terror.
