FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Morgan Anderson nearly matched visiting Penn State Berks by herself, while the Blazer defense posted its best performance since February 2002 in a 68-28 non-conference win.

Inside the Box Score
  • Anderson scored a career-high 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. The senior added seven rebounds, four assists, three blocks and six steals.
  • Marlise Newson was the only other player in double figures for Hood with 10 points on 4-of-8 from the field. The junior finished with eight rebounds, five assists and four steals.
  • Snoop Robinson led the Blazers with 10 rebounds.
How it Happened
  • After leading 31-19 at halftime, Hood's defense kicked it up a notch when play resumed. The Blazers held Berks off the scoreboard for the entire quarter and a span of nearly 12 minutes overall to begin the second half. Anderson scored seven points in the period as Hood shot 7-for-12 as a team, including a pair of 3-pointers, during a 17-0 run.
  • The Nittany Lions missed their first 11 field goals of the second half and added a dozen turnovers before a Sarah Painton free throw gave Berks its first point of the half with 8:20 to play to make it 50-20.
  • Hood took its biggest lead with 1:32 to play on a basket by Jenna Davis-Hans that made it 66-26 and led by 40 again on the final score of the game by Alli House.
  • The Blazers opened the game with a 13-0 run over the opening five minutes and 27 seconds of play. Hood forced the Nittany Lions into six turnovers on their first eight possessions, mustering just two field goal attempts in the game's opening minutes.
  • Berks scored five of its seven first quarter points at the charity stripe, pulling within eight points before a late bucket by Philippa Clouse made it 17-7 after the first quarter.
  • After holding the Nittany Lions to just 1-of-10 shooting in the first period, the two teams played virtually even in the second quarter. Anderson scored 10 of the Blazers' 14 points in the period, as Hood carried a 31-19 edge into the break.
