FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's swim team won nine of the 10 events to score a 118-44 victory over Stevenson in 2021 opener for both programs.

Winners

• Hazen Stowell picked up two wins by margins of at least 13 seconds. He won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:48.90, nearly 14 seconds ahead of the field. Later, he picked up the win by 31 seconds in the 500 free with his time of 5:00.18. 
• Patrick Krol won both the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard backstroke. Krol out-reached his opponent in the 200 IM to win by just 0.06 seconds with a time of 2:09.11. The finish in the 200 back was less dramatic as his time of 1:02.05 won by 17 seconds. 
• Brooks Anderson, Andrew Bezman and Russell Odor also picked up wins. Anderson won the 100 free in 52.15. Bezman scored a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.49. Odor's win came in the 50 free with a time of 23.14. 
• Hood won both relays. The 200-yard medley relay of Krol, Bezman, Hank Machen and Julian Urban swam the winning time of 1:55.62. The 200 free relay of  Odor, Cameron King, Stowell, Anderson was victorious in 1:34.87. 

Seconds

• Hood took first and second in three events, with King responsible for two of the three runner up finishes. King was second to Odor in the 50 free in 24.91 and to Anderson in the 100 free in 57.46. Anderson was second to Stowell in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.69. 
• Odor was second in the lone event won by the Mustangs, swimming a 55.50 in the 100-yard butterfly, only 0.28 seconds off the pace. 

Notes

• Hood won its first official meet of the year after competing in several exhibitions in the fall and is now 1-0 on the year.
