Skorobatsch scores double-overtime game-winner

FREDERICK, Md. - After Hood College's Liz Connelly tied the game with 29 seconds left in regulation, the Blazers' Laura Skorobatsch broke the deadlock in double overtime for the 10-9 win over Arcadia..

Inside the Box Score
  • Skorobatsch, Connelly and Jess Lyons led the Blazers with three goals apiece. Skorobatsch added one ground ball, one caused turnover, and three draw controls. Lyons recorded an assist, two ground balls, and two draw controls.
  • Sydney Thomas recorded three ground balls.
  • Tenley Reeder added one assist and two caused turnovers.
  • Sophia Vilaca made seven saves and recorded one caused turnover.
How it Happened
  • Skorobatsch scored off of an assist from Reeder within the first 51 seconds of play to open the scoring. She took an assist from Cassidy O'Neill with 26:26 left in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. 
  • The Knights answered back at 24:43 with a goal from Giovanna Raspanti, but Lyons scored just over a minute later to make it 3-1.
  • Arcadia's Hannah McCallister scored with 22:12 left in the first half, followed by another Knights goal by Alex Arena, tying the game at 3 with 15:58 left to play in the half. 
  • Lyons then scored back-to-back, granting the Blazers another two-goal lead. Just over a minute later, Arcadia's Maddie Ruger scored off of a pass from Alex Arena to bring the score to 5-4 with 6:49 left in the half.
  • Connelly scored three minutes later, allowing for the Blazers to maintain a 6-4 lead going into halftime. 
  • Arcadia came out strong in the second half, scoring twice in the first four minutes to tie the Blazers once again 6-6.
  • A goal from Connelly was answered back quickly by Arcadia's Skylar Acker, who allowed for the Knights to tie 7-7 with 22:20 left to play.
  • Sarah Morris and Arena scored two more Arcadia goals, allowing the Knights to take a 9-7 lead with 10:05 left to play. 
  • Mackenzie Demaio answered back with a Blazers goal at 5:24, and Connelly earned her third goal of the game with just 29 seconds left, forcing the Knights into overtime play with a 9-9 score at the end of regulation.
  • While both teams were scoreless after the first overtime, a pass from Demaio led to the final goal scored by Skorobatsch, granting the Blazers the 10-9 win with 1:52 left on the clock.
Analysis 
  • Hood held a 32-22 advantage in shots.
  • The Blazers recorded 13 ground balls, while the Knights earned five.
  • Hood had 21 successful clears out of 25 total attempts.
