YORK, Pa. - The Hood College softball team doubled seven times in the opener of a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth doubleheader at York (Pa.) to win 8-7. The Spartans salvaged the split in game two with a 9-0 final. 

At the Plate

• Lindsay Wilson doubled twice and drove in four to lead the attack in the first game. Angela Acampora, Belle Bortner, Brandi Davidson, Caitlin Gosline and Mallorie Hetzel also recorded two-base hits in the game. 
• It was the most doubles for Hood in a single game since a game with eight at Gettysburg in 2014. 

Inside the Circle

• Bortner went the distance to pick up her fourth victory. She allowed four earned runs in seven innings.
• Jordan Long was undone by a pair of Blazer errors in game two. Only one run she allowed was earned over 3.2 innings. Wilson replaced her for the final out of the fourth before the game ended. 

Hood 8, York 7

• The Blazers trailed 3-2 before erupting for five runs in the fifth. 
• Cailyn Barthlow led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a double by Davidson. Hetzel tied the game with an RBI fielder's choice and Bortner made it 4-3 with a run-scoring single. Gosline and Wilson followed with back-to-back doubles as Hood went ahead 7-3. 
• A two-run home run by Hannah Vogt in the fifth and a run scoring double by Daphney Adams in the sixth pulled the Spartans within 7-6. 
• Hood added its final run in the top of the seventh. Bortner led off with a double and reached third after Gosline walked and Wilson hit a fielder's choice. Colleen Blasko brought Bortner home with a sacrifice fly for an 8-6 lead. 
• York pulled within one with two outs in the bottom of the inning before Bortner retired the side. 
• Bortner had three hits for Hood. Gosline had a hit and walked twice. 
• All nine hitters reached base at least once for Hood, including eight different players with hits. 
• Alyssa Harhigh had four hits for the Spartans. 
• Taylor Lindsay allowed seven earned runs in 4.1 innings to take the loss. 

York 9, Hood 0 (5 innings)

• The Spartans' Shyla Pastore one-hit Hood as York ended the second game after five innings. 
• Single runs in the first and second put the Blazers down 2-0 before a seven-run fourth put the game out of reach. Adams had a two-run triple and scored on a two-run homer by Lindsay to cap the scoring in the fourth. 
• Hood's only base runners in the game came via a single by Acampora and a walk by Blasko. 
• Lindsay drove in three for York. 
• Pastore struck out three and walked one on the way to her fourth victory.

• Hood is 7-11 overall and 6-8 in the conference. 
• York is 9-5 both overall and in MAC Commonwealth contests.
