LeBarron scores 100th goal at Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Hood College's Bentley LeBarron scored his 100th career goal, but a slow start was too much to overcome for the men's lacrosse team in a 16-8 loss in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play Eastern. 

Inside the Numbers
  • LeBarron scored four times to finish the game with 101 goals, joining former teammate Grayson Zubradt as the only players in school history to do so. He reached the round number with a goal at 9:25 left in the fourth quarter. 
  • Colby Gallagher scored twice.
  • Trenton Lazorchak made 16 saves for the Blazers. 
  • Bailey Meehan had three caused turnovers and three ground balls. 
  • Garrett Hitchens won 11 faceoffs and had eight ground balls. 
How it Happened
  • The Eagles held Hood off the scoreboard in the first half, building an 8-0 lead at the break, including three goals by Nicholas Fanelli.  
  • The Blazers opened the second half by cutting the deficit in half in the first five minutes after play resumed. LeBarron scored back-to-back goals to start the run at 14:05 and 12:08, respectively. After Michael Mullen made it a five-goal game, Gallagher scored with an man advantage with an assist from Gavin Combe to make it 8-4 with 10:21 left in the third. 
  • Eastern responded with another run, however, to put the game out of reach, scoring six times to take a 14-4 lead with 9:47 to go in the game. 
  • LeBarron broke the momentum with his 100th goal and Combe and Gallagher cashed in on penalties by the Eagles to make it 14-7 with four minutes left. After two more Eastern goals, LeBarron added his fourth of the game at 1:44 to finish the scoring. 
For the Opponent
  • Fanelli had a game-high five goals and added two assists and four caused turnovers. Connor Killion scored four goals and had an assist. Avery Porter dished out seven assists as part of a nine-point afternoon. 
  • Anthony Firmani went 17-of-28 on faceoffs. 
  • Ethan Myers made 10 saves in 57 minutes. 
Analysis
  • The Eagles outshot Hood 52-32. 
  • Eastern led the ground ball battle 45-33. 
  • Hood converted 3-of-8 extra man opportunities. 
Notes
  • Hood falls to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the MAC Commonwealth. 
  • Eastern is 7-3 this season and 5-2 in the conference.
