Men's lacrosse picks up conference road win

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Hood College men's lacrosse team defeated Lebanon Valley College for the first time in school history on Saturday, April 24. The Blazers 12-5 victory propels them to 4-3 on the season. 

Inside the Numbers
  • LeBarron found the back of the net four times against the Dutchmen making it the sixth time this season he's scored three or more goals in a game. 
  • Will Sweeney scored three times, while Gavin Combe and Kyle Scott each scored twice.
  • Bailey Meehan contributed to Hood's victory by causing three turnovers.
  • Trenton Lazorchak collected 11 saves to defend Hood's lead.
  • Garrett Hitchens won 13-of-19 faceoffs and led Hood with 12 ground balls. 
How it Happened
  • The game started off low scoring, entering halftime with a score of 4-2 in favor of the Blazers. LVC tied the score on a goal by Kyle Golden with 12:15 left in the second, but Hood's defense kept the Dutchmen off the board for the rest of the half. Goals by LeBarron and Sweeney gave the Blazers the halftime lead.
  • Hood added to their lead coming out of the locker rooms with three goals in the first two minutes of the second half. Scott and Sweeney scored or assisted on all three scores, including Sweeney's unassisted goal to make it 7-2 with 12:55 left in the third. 
  • Lebanon Valley fought back to make it 7-4 entering the fourth quarter.
  • LeBarron had two goals and an assist in a five-goal fourth quarter to cement their win. 
For the Opponent
  • Lebanon Valley had five different players score on Saturday, each with one goal.
  • The Dutchmen goalkeepers had a combined 18 saves, including 14 in 56 minutes by Nick Serrano.
  • Lebanon Valley created 21 turnovers. 
Analysis
  • The Blazers outshot the Dutchmen 42-30.
  • Hood successfully cleared the ball 21 times out of their 28 attempts.
  • The Blazers won 14 out of the 20 faceoffs.
