Men's lacrosse falls on senior night

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's lacrosse team dropped its senior night game to visiting No. 8 Stevenson 16-7 in the regular season and Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth finale for the Blazers. 

Inside the Box Score How it Happened
  • The Blazers came out quickly, taking advantage of an early penalty on the Mustangs. LeBarron scored unassisted at 13:01 with a man-advantage for a 1-0 lead. 
  • After that, neither team scored for nearly nine minutes before Ryan Coleman tied the game with 4:22 to go in the first. Connor Nelson scored in the period's final minute to give Stevenson a 2-1 edge. 
  • The second half belonged to the Mustangs, how went on a eight-goal run to to open the quarter. Jackson Hand stopped the streak off an assist from Gallagher with 1:02 on the clock to make it 10-2. Stevenson's Tyler Sullivan scored with five seconds to go to make it a nine-goal deficit for Hood at halftime. 
  • Stevenson scored to start the third quarter but Hand answered with a score at 11:24 to make it 12-3. Mullen scored in-between a pair of goals by the Mustangs as Hood trailed 14-4 heading into the fourth quarter. 
  • Gallagher scored back-to-back goals in the first 85 seconds of the fourth quarter to make it 14-6 before goals by Came Leydig and Jay Minor ended any hopes of a comeback.

  • The Mustangs outshot Hood 45-32. 
  • The Blazers were undone by 29 turnovers, compared to 15 for Stevenson. 
  • Both teams won 12 face offs. 
For the Opponent
  • Nelson had three goals and two assists for Stevenson.  Leydig also scored three times. 
  • Marc Poust made 10 saves. 
  • Matt Wilson caused five turnovers and seven ground balls.
