Women's lacrosse tripped up by LVC

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's lacrosse team fell 22-11 in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth contest to visiting Lebanon Valley. 

Inside the Box Score How it Happened
  • The Blazers scored off the opening draw as Connelly recorded the draw control and scored just 51 seconds into the action. 
  • After Hathaway tied the game at 27:25, Jaclyn Little and Sydney Zimmerman traded the next four goals as the Dutchmen built a 5-1 lead with 17:19 left in the half. 
  • Hood answered with a 4-1 run as Lyons, Connelly, Tenley Reeder and Sydney Thomas all found the back of the net. Thomas scored the final goal of the run, trimming the deficit to 6-5 wtih 7:58 on the first half clock. 
  • The Dutchmen finished the half strong, however, scoring four in a row, capped by a buzzer-beater from Livia Jackson that made it 10-5 at the break. 
  • LVC opened the second half with a 4-1 spurt and Hood did not get within seven over the remainder of the contest. 
For the Opponent
  • Veronica Venezia had a 10-point effort with four goals and six assists. She also had seven draw controls. Brittany Hathaway scored a game-high six goals and Little added four. 
  • Julia Abendschoen made five saves in 45 minutes. Shelby Guinard played the remainder of the game in goal. 
Analysis
  • LVC outshot Hood 31-24.
  • Both teams committed 14 turnovers. 
  • Lebanon Valley had 12 ground balls, one more than the Blazers.

The Blazers will play in the MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinals on April 27 against an opponent to be determined.
