GRANTHAM, Pa. - Hood College's Kevin Ciocco was the runner-up in the hammer throw to lead the men's track and field team on the first day of the Messiah Multi & Invitational.

In the Field

• Ciocco's heave of 42.75 meters (140-03) claimed second place behind Jake Kraycer of DeSales (43.91, 144-01). He currently ranks fourth in the Middle Atlantic Conference in the event. 

On the Track

• Hood's only other men's competitor on the opening day was Thomas Kasanicky. He ran a season-best time in the 1500 of 4:35.61.

Notes

• The Blazers are in sixth place with eight points.
