FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's volleyball team rebounded after dropping the first set for a 3-1 win over visiting Goucher in non-conference play. 

Inside the Box Score

• Caitlin Ambruster tallied 20 kills, the most for a Blazer this season and hit .314 in the match. The sophomore added 17 digs and four blocks. 
• Carrington Ray did not commit an error in the match, finishing with 11 kills and a robust .579 hitting percentage. 
• Jackie Malitzki dished out 45 assists and had 12 digs. 
• Walissa Jaque had five blocks. 
• Samantha Baker led the team with 19 digs, while Katie Amaguana added 13. 

Set 1: Goucher 25, Hood 22

• The two teams battled back and forth with the Blazers tying the score as late as 19-19. Three straight miscues by Hood, however, gave Goucher some breathing room as the Gophers closed out the set with a 6-3 run. 
• Goucher had its best hitting set of the night a .189, just ahead of Hood's .182, which proved to be the Blazers' worst set of the evening. 

Set 2: Hood 25, Goucher 18

• Hood used a six-point run to turn a three-point deficit into an 11-7 lead. Ray had two kills in the run. 
• The Blazers took their largest lead at 24-17 on a kill by Ambruster before matching the seven-point lead on the set's decisive point. 
• Hood hit .310 in the set. 

Set 3: Hood 25, Goucher 20

• The Blazers jumped out to an early 8-1 lead as the Gophers committed four attacking errors in the first nine points of the set. 
• Alex Coffin had a pair of service aces as Goucher stormed within 10-9. After a service error, two kills by Ambruster and an ace from Amaguana fueled a 5-1 run that stretched the lead back to 15-10. 
• The set was Hood's best attacking of the day at .379. The Blazers committed just two errors on 29 attacks. 

Set 4: Hood 25, Goucher 20

• Ambruster had five kills during an 11-3 run that turned a 4-4 tie into a 15-7 lead for the Blazers. 
• Hood held the Gophers to a .000 hitting percentage as Goucher had 11 kills and 11 errors in the set. 

Analysis

• Hood's .265 hitting percentage (52-13-147) was its best of the season. 
• Goucher held a slim 81-78 advantage in digs. 

For the Opponent

• Rachel Chapman had 12 kills for Goucher, while Kaya Melchor added 11. 
• Nicole Kovach had 36 assists and Neli La Court Ruiz led all players with 29 digs. 

Notes

• The Blazers moved to 2-4 on the season, while Goucher dropped to 3-4.
