CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Hood College field hockey team dropped its season opener at Washington College (Md.) 6-0 in a non-conference contest.

- Washington College (Md.) started off the scoring with a late first period goal from Kate Gromacki.
- After leading 1-0 after the first quarter, the Shorewomen added a goal by Kat Esposito to make it 2-0 at the half.
- Hood's best opportunity to score came early in the third period. Tanae Johnson outran her defender with the ball but her shot from the top of the circle was saved.
- The Shorewomen pulled away with three goals in ten minutes later in the third period, two unassisted by Esposito, and one by Julianna Sterling.
