Volleyball falls in thriller to open season

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's volleyball team battled back from a 2-0 deficit to force a decisive fifth set before St. Mary's (Md.) picked up the 3-2 victory.

  • The Seahawks took control of the match with back-to-back 25-16 victories for a 2-0 lead. 
  • Needing to win to stay alive, the Blazers battled St. Mary's point-for-point before claiming a 29-27 win in the third set. 
  • In the fourth set, Hood had just one attack error, hitting .346 en route to a 25-15 win. 
  • St. Mary's found its stride again in the fifth set, taking the match with a 15-9 win.
