FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's volleyball team battled back from a 2-0 deficit to force a decisive fifth set before St. Mary's (Md.) picked up the 3-2 victory.

• Caitlin Ambruster had a match-high 15 kills in her collegiate debut. The sophomore registered seven aces, four blocks and 16 digs, all of which were team-highs. 
• MacKenzi Wright added 10 kills.
• Walissa Jaque hit .500 with seven kills against just one error in 12 attempts. 
• Jackie Malitzki dished out a match-high 31 assists and added 10 digs and five aces.

How it Happened

• The Seahawks took control of the match with back-to-back 25-16 victories for a 2-0 lead. 
• Needing to win to stay alive, the Blazers battled St. Mary's point-for-point before claiming a 29-27 win in the third set. 
• In the fourth set, Hood had just one attack error, hitting .346 en route to a 25-15 win. 
• St. Mary's found its stride again in the fifth set, taking the match with a 15-9 win. 

Analysis

• St. Mary's hit. 165 in the match, with the Blazers finishing the night at .120. 
• Both team served up 17 aces. 
• Hood had 70 digs, seven more than the Seahawks.

• Chanel Lucas and Kyra Feinaeur tied for the team-high with 11 kills each.
