Men's soccer shuts out Penn State Mont Alto on Senior Night

FREDERICK, Md. - All three seniors recorded points as the Hood College men's soccer team shut out Penn State Mont Alto 9-0 on Senior Night. 

Inside the Box Score How It Happened
  • Poisal got the Blazers scoring started three minutes into the game when he netted his shot after receiving a pass from Olivarez.
  • Five minutes later, Salgado took a shot which rebounded off the goalie's gloves and Hudon was there to corral the ball and sneak it past the goalie.
  • Urbina got his name in the scoring column as he assisted Poisal on his second goal of the day which extended the score to 3-0 in the 20th minute.
  • After a goal kick by the Nittany Lions, Urbina won the ball back for the Blazers and found Hagen open in the middle. Hagen inserted the ball into the box where Hammer was able to get a head on the ball to score Hood's fourth goal of the game in the 34th minute. 
  • Picone tallied two straight goals in two minutes of each other off of passes by Weimann and Schiller to extend the lead to six going into the half time break. 
  • Coming out of halftime, the senior duo of Hynson and Poisal netted the seventh goal for Hood as Hynson headed the ball past the goalie off Poisal pass into the middle of goal in the 48th minute. 
  • Weimann tallied his second assist of the night after a chipped pass over the defenders feet to help Hudon net his second of the night. 
  • Brown rounded out the scoring in the 86th minute as he beat two defenders to find the back of the net. 
Analysis 
  • Hood had the advantage over Penn State Mont Alto 45-3 in shots and 15-0 in corner kicks.
For the Opponent
  • Cole White recorded nine saves in the net for Penn St. Mont Alto.

  • "I am really happy to get a win on senior day and have so many of our starters and reserves contribute in all areas of the game. With that being said, we have a really tough road game coming up Saturday and will need to be sharp in order to get a tough win on the road."
Up Next: 
The Blazers move to 4-1 on the season and will hit the road for the second time this season when they travel to New Jersey for a matchup with the Cyclones of Centenary University with a 3:30 p.m. kick off.
