FREDERICK, Md. - Fifth-seeded Widener came from behind in double overtime and again during penalty kicks to advance past Hood College in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Women's Soccer First Round.
The teams battled 1-1 through 110 minutes before Widener converted its last two penalty kicks to eliminate the Blazers 4-3.

How it Happened
- After over 100 minutes of scoreless soccer, Nair found the back of the net on a free kick just outside of the box that put Hood ahead 1-0. The sophomore took the kick from just outside the top of the box and deposited it into the right side of the net for the lead.
- Widener found the equalizer with just over two minutes left in the second overtime. Melissa Koch scored inside the box on a Emily Schall pass to send the game into penalty kicks.
- In the shootout, Madison Forte and Nair converted in the opening round.
- Brynn Foley knocked one off the left post. Hood answered with Ellenberger, who went down the middle to give the Blazers a 2-1 edge.
- Katie Quarry found the back of the net before Kaelyn Kobosko (Middletown, DE/Middletown) answered to keep Hood ahead 3-2.
- Kayla Taylor tied the shootout at 3-3 before Hannah O'Guin (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) was turned away by Samantha Coon.
- In the fifth round, Maggie Boyes scored and Coon came up with another stop to send Widener to the semifinals.
