STATEN ISLAND, NY. - Hood College's
Jamel Mins (Columbia, Md./Atholton) and
Dustin Miller (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) both broke school records, leading the men's track and field team at the Fasttrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility in Staten Island, N.Y.
Record Breakers
- Mins broke the record in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 22.79 seconds to place sixth in the event. His time cut 0.13 from the record previously held by Michael Beidleman in 2012. Mins ran another personal best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.21 seconds, to place 10th.
- Miller, who placed sixth in the weight throw, broke the school record with a throw of 13.67 meters (44-8). His throw added over 1.5 meters to the previous mark by Kevin Ciocco in 2020. Miller also put himself second on the all-time Hood College shot put list with a throw of 11.93 meters (39-1), placing ninth.
Highlights
- The 4x800-meter relay of Owen Ellington (Laurel, Md./Gonzaga College), Chris Sappe (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana), Arnold Nguele (Washington, D.C./Dr. Henry A. Wise) and Alex Seskar (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) placed third with a time of 8:36.81. The time is the third fastest in Hood College history in the event.
- Sappe ran the mile in 4:36.88, placing ninth. The time is the third-fastest performance in school history.
- Evan Ellington (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) recorded a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.33, placing 18th.
