FREDERICK, Md. - Five different players had multi-goal games as the Hood College women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Bridgewater 14-8 in the season opener for both teams.

How it Happened
- Hood trailed 5-4 at halftime but erupted for eight goals in the third quarter. Connelly tied the game just over a minute into the action with an assist from Jess Lyons.
- The Blazers scored four goals in a span of just over three minutes during the middle of the quarter to take the lead. Russell gave Hood the lead with 9:36 to go and, after scores by Connelly and Rebecca Turner, Mackenzie Demaio made it 9-5 in favor of Hood with 6:16 remaining in the period.
- A goal by Bridgewater's Roberts appeared to halt the momentum at 5:47 but Connelly scored 44 seconds later, and Russell had an assist and a goal in the final two minutes. Roberts again tried keep pace for Bridgewater with a goal at the 33 second mark as Hood carried a 12-7 lead into the fourth.
- Burnette, who scored on Russell's goal late in the third, scored again with 14:06 left in the game.
- The two offenses were silent for over 10 minutes until Bridgewater's Madeline Magill scored with 3:10 left. A late goal by Demaio finished the scoring.
- In the first quarter, four Eagles scored as Hood fell behind 4-1 after 15 minutes of play.
- After goals by Thomas and Skorobatsch pulled the Blazers within a goal less than 90 seconds into the third quarter, neither team scored again for seven minutes. Jenna Entsminger took a feed from Lauren Roberts with 6:29 left to stretch the Bridgewater lead back to 5-3. Lyons scored with 5:47 left and the Blazers trailed 5-4 at halftime.

Notes
- The win gave Hood's Emily Barber a win in her first game as head coach. She is the first Blazer women's lacrosse coach to win their debut since Staci Thomson (Brennan) in 2003.
