Zechman breaks school record in the javelin at Goucher

BALTIMORE, Md. - Hood College's Tay Zechman broke an almost 13-year-old school record in the javelin throw to lead the women's track and field team at the Goucher Inter-Conference Meet.

Record Breaker

Zechman, who also won the event, broke the record with a throw of 32.27 meters (105-10). Her throw replaced a record of 31.87 meters (104-7) that was previously set by Erica Hamor in 2009.

On the Track

The 4x400-meter relay of Adalie Heller, Erynn Whaley, Chloe McQuillen and Shania Mason placed second with a time of 4:50.69.
The 4x100-meter relay of Gloria Castillo, Shania Mason, Shayna Hancock and Jordan Nicolas placed third with a time of 53.91.
Mason finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.80, placing fourth.
Raphaella Henson-Vendrell finished second in the 5000-meter run with a time of 21:25.33.
Shayna Hancock placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:06.69. Heller placed sixth in the same event with a time of 1:09.07.

In the Field

Chloe McQuillen cleared 1.40 meters (4-7) in the high jump, placing third. The mark puts McQuillen third-all time in the event in school history.
Mackenzie Rogers placed third in the long jump with a mark of 4.65 meters (15-3 ¼). Castillo jumped 4.64 meters (15-2 ¾), placing fourth.

Team Standings

Hood finished fourth with 61 points.
Marymount (Va.) won the meet with 98.
