SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Hood College's baseball team ended the season with a win over Susquehanna University 4-2.

On the Mound
- Gavin Pollard (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) started the game for the Blazers, allowing one run on two hits. In three innings of work he had four strikeouts.
- Frank Spaide (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) struck out three in two innings of work.
- Scott Ash (Middletown, PA/Middletown) struck out three, and allowed one hit in two innings.
- Cole Whitton (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) received the win on the mound, coming in with the bases loaded with no outs in the eighth in relief of Ryan McCreedy (Sparta, NJ/Pope John XXIII). He allowed only one inherited runner to score and punched out one in the inning.Â
- Matthew Stout (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) got the save in the ninth inning, throwing a perfect ninth inning.   Â
At the Plate
- Stephen Sommer (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun) hit a bases-clearing two RBI triple in the ninth inning to break the tie. He also scored in the game and had a stolen base.
- James DeProspero (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) and Sam Wheeler (Sayre, PA/Sayre) each recorded an RBI.
- Nick Rampone (Mendham, NJ/Randolph) doubled in a two hit afternoon.Â
- Jacob Saylor (Walkersville, MD/Walkersville) and AJ Haines (Arlington, VA/Bishop O'Connell) each scored in the game.
Hood 4, Susquehanna 2
- With two outs in the ninth inning, Haines walked and DeProspero singled to put runners at the corners. Sommer drove them both in, hitting a triple into left center field to give Hood the lead 4-2.
- Pollard allowed just one hit until J.P. Yore homered in the third inning to give Susquehanna a 1-0 lead after three innings.Â
- The Blazers got on the board in the sixth inning, taking advantage of an error that extended the inning. Wheeler scored Sommer on a single into left field, as Hood tied up the game at one after six.Â
- Hood received back-to-back singles by Saylor and Rampone in the seventh inning, and Haines reached on an error by Michael Mancuso to load the bases. DeProspero was sent in to pinch hit, and brought home Saylor on a sacrifice fly to right field. The Blazers took their first lead of the game, going up 2-1.
- Spaide and Ash managed to limit the River Hawks to only one hit, from the fourth through seventh innings. The two pitchers combined four six strikeouts in four innings. Â
- Susquehanna rallied in the eighth inning, courtesy of walks by Tony Rossi and Michael Rauso, and a Danny Selby hit-by-pitch. Whitton came in with the bases loaded, and managed to get out of the inning, allowing only Rossi to score. The River Hawks would tie up the game 2-2.    Â
For the OpponentÂ
- Yore hit a home run in the third inning to lead Susquehanna.
- Camryn Eberly recorded an RBI and a stolen base in the game.Â
- Rossi walked three times and scored once on the afternoon.Â
- Nathan Dawes got the start on the mound, pitching five scoreless innings, and had three strikeouts.
- Brock Veit gave up one run on one hit in the sixth inning.Â
- Kieran Dougherty pitched in the seventh inning, and gave up one run on two hits.
- Christian Rossi took the loss, giving up two runs on two hits in two innings of work.Â
