Men's soccer and Wilson end in a standstill

FREDERICK, Md. -  The Hood College men's soccer team hosted Wilson College for a mid-week matchup that results in a 0-0 tie. 

Inside the Box Score 
  • Cam Simpler (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink) led the Blazers with eight shots.
  • Garrett Carter (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) recorded three saves in goal. 
How It Happened
  • The best scoring chance of the first half came from an Alioune Diop (Dakar, Senegal/Seneca Valley (MD)) header that Billy Merk got his hands one at the last second to deny Diop the goal in the 33rd minute. 
  • Hood outshot Wilson in the first half 10-7 to keep the game knotted at zero. 
  • The Blazers had multiple scoring chances outshooting Wilson 17-5 along with many defensive battles in the second half to take the 1-0 lead.
  • Gibby Fuentes-Reyes (Frederick, MD/Tuscarora) and Simpler had the best chances to score after back-to-back opportunities but both shots hit the post in the 61st minute. 
Analysis 
  • Hood outshot Wilson 27-12 and had the advantage 9-3 in corners.
For the Opponent 
  • Ryder Wallace shot a team-high three times.
