FREDERICK, Md.- The Hood College men's volleyball team fell to both Roanoke and Immaculata in three sets in a non-conference tri-match.
Set Scores
- The Maroons won 25-15, 25-15, 25-8 over Hood.
- The Mighty Macs defeated the Blazers 25-17, 25-17, 25-13.
Inside the Box Score
- Marc Fitzkee (York, Pa./Central York) had a combined 18 kills on the day. Fitzkee also had 10 digs across both games.
- In both matches Adam Bartice (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) had 30 assists with 22 in the Immaculata match.
Roanoke 3 Hood 0
- Hood held a 10-9 lead in the first set until Roanoke scored six consecutive points. Roanoke would go on to win the opening set 25-15.
- After a kill by Russell Odor (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee), the Blazers would go on a 7-4 second-set run to make the score 18-12 Roanoke. However, the Maroons would win the second set 25-15.
- To start the third set, the Maroons opened with a 10-0 run and cruised to the three-set win.
- Davin Stevenson led all players with 25 assists and tallied 10 dings for the Maroons
- Logan Chappel had a match-high eight kills.
Immaculata 3 Hood 0
- A kill by Will Javier Rojas (Reading, Pa./Reading) would give the Blazers a 5-2 advantage to start the match.
- Immaculata pulled away with a 6-0 run to give the Mighty Macs a 20-12 advantage. In the second set, Hood pulled within 12-10 on a kill by Will Fitch (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) before a 7-2 run by Immaculata put the set out of reach.
- The Mighty Macs carried the momentum into the third set, jumping ahead 20-8 to seal the win.
- Fitzkee led all players with 11 kills for the Blazers.
- Joe Martell was credited for 28 assists and eight digs for the Maroons.
Notes
- Hood dropped to 1-2 on the year.
- Roanoke, who also defeated Immaculata, improved to 4-2.
- The Mighty Macs ended the afternoon 2-2.
