FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's basketball team fell just short of a victory over the University of Mary Washington, falling 81-72 to the Eagles.

How it Happened
The Blazers came out swinging early in the first half. Hood's quick offense resulted in two three-pointers from
Ryan Hollwedel (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) making it 6-0. The Blazers kept their foot on the gas after another couple of three-pointers by
Troy Fulton (Denver, N.C./Lincoln Charter School) and
Will Spencer (Davidsonville, Md./Boys' Latin School).
Halfway through the first half of play, Hood went on a scoring run, until the Eagles responded with a three-pointer of their own with a shot from Dorian Davis. This would give the University of Mary Washington a lead over Hood 18-17. Prior to the second half, both teams would trade baskets closing out the first half 39-37 in favor of the University of Mary Washington.
In the second half of play, the Eagles worked to keep their small lead. Halfway through the second, Fulton made two clutch free throws tying up the scoring. The Blazers went on another brief scoring run after a sequence of a made three-pointer and layup by Fulton.
With just three minutes left in the game Hood led Mary Washington 67-65 after two made free throws from Cox. In the final minutes of regulation, the Eagles made crucial free throws to keep the game out of reach despite a late three-pointer from Cox.

Davis led the Eagles with 23 points, shooting 7-16 from the field.
