SELINSGROVE, Pa. and HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hood College men's track team competed in split-squad action at both the Larry Sharpe Memorial Invitational at Hagerstown Community College and the SU Tune Up at Susquehanna University.
Record Breakers
- At SU, Dustin Miller (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) broke Hood's shot put record with a mark of 12.76 meters (41-10 1/2), placing 11th out of 41 participants. The mark bested the previous mark by over a foot and a half from a record that was held by Kevin Ciocco in 2020.
- The 1600-meter sprint medley team of Haiden Naill (Frederick, Md./Walkersville), Tofunmi Okuseinde (Baltimore, Md./Parkville), Arnold Nguele (Washington, D.C./Dr. Henry A. Wise), and Grayson Whitesell (Myersville, Md./Middletown) turned in a time of 4:12.25. It was the first time the women's track and field team competed in the event, which is not an NCAA championship track event.
HighlightsÂ
- In Hagerstown, Okuseinde qualified for the 55-meter dash final with his time in the preliminary round of 6.80 seconds. This time is the fourth fastest time in school history. The first-year student finished sixth in the finals with a time of 6.86.Â
- At SU, Owen Ellington (Laurel, Md./Gonzaga College) finished ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.81 seconds.
- Miller, again at SU, finished eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 13.43 (44-0 3/4).
