Blazers fell to the Patriots in four sets.

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – The Hood College men's volleyball fell short to the Patriots of Valley Forge losing in four sets.  

 Set Scores 

  • Valley Forge won three out of the four sets. 25-15, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15. 

Inside the Box Score  

  • Marc Fitzkee (York, Pa./Central York) had 19 kills for the Blazers.  

  • Will Javier Rojas (Reading, Pa./Reading) tallied 16 kills. 

  • Adam Bartice (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) dished out 30 assists. 

  • Will Fitch (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) and Fitzkee had a team-high seven assists. 

 Valley Forge 25, Hood 15 

  • Valley Forge jumped out to a 4-1 lead with the Patriot's Toby Harris having two kills. 

  • The biggest lead for Valley Forge came at 24-12 after a Patriot's ace Clay Confer. 

  • UVF took advantage of 15 errors by Hood to take the set. 

Hood 25, Valley Forge 23 

  • In the second set, the Blazers rebounded with 14 kills. Fitzkee had eight kills for Hood, while Javier Rojas had six kills. 

  • During the second set, the score was tied 15 times before a kill by Javier Rojas won the set for the Hood 25-23. 

Valley Forge 25, Hood 22 

  • Hood used a 4-1 run midway through the set to claim a 16-14 lead. 

  • The Blazers led 22-21 late in the set after a Fitzkee kill and an ace by Bartice. 

  • The Patriots scored four straight points, including the 13th tie of the set to win 25-22. 

Valley Forge 25, Hood 15 

  • In the fourth set Hood jumped out to a 5-0 lead with four kills from Javier Rojas.  

  • Valley Forge pulled within 5-4 before another kill from Javier Rojas and an error by the Patriots helped Hood hold onto the lead, 7-5. UVF used a 9-1 run to take control of the set.  

Analysis 

  • The Blazers had one more kill than the Patriots 40-39. 

  • Hood finished with 34 assists to the Patriots' 27. 

  • The Blazers struggled with service in the match, committing 24 errors. 

  • Valley Forge had seven blocks. 

For the Opponent 

  • Nathan Whisman had 13 kills for the Patriots. 

  • Paul Brown dished out 25 assists.  

  • Clay Confer had nine kills.
