FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College baseball team tied the game up in the ninth inning, but fell short in extra innings in a non-conference game to visiting Marymount University 4-3.
On the Mound
	- Colby Childs (Berryville, Va./Clarke County) started the game for the Blazers and threw three complete innings, allowing only one hit with three strikeouts and two walks.
 
	- Aaron Heller (Philadelphia, Pa./Jack Barrack Hebrew Acad.) threw three innings in relief and allowed three runs on four hits, totaling three strikeouts 
 
	- Gavin Pollard (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) pitched a scoreless seventh inning with two strikeouts. 
 
	- Scott Ash (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) pitched 2.2 innings and took the loss, giving up one run on three hits. The senior also recorded four strikeouts. Mason Sawyers (Culpeper, Va./Culpeper County) finished the tenth inning recording the final out.    
 
At the Plate
	- Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) led Hood going 3-for-4 with an RBI double.
 
	- Jacob Saylor (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk.
 
	- Tyler Schwarzman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) finished the game with two RBIs.
 
	- Austin Rhue (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) recorded a double and a run scored.       
 
Marymount 4, Hood 3
	- Hood took the lead in the second inning, as Saylor hit a one out double down the right field line to be in scoring position. Patterson two batters later knocked in Saylor with a double down the left field line to put the Blazers up 1-0.
 
	- The Saints grabbed their first lead of the game in the fourth inning that started with a Jimmy Baker single with one out. Baker moved up to second on a wild pitch to put him into scoring position. Later in the inning Baker scored on a passed ball to give Marymount its first run of the game. 
 
	- Ryan Maylie reached on a double and with two outs was caught in a run down between third and home in which he scored on a throwing error by Heller to give the Saints a 2-1 lead after four innings.
 
	- Jimmy Baker led of the sixth inning with a double into the left field gap for the Saints. Baker moved over on a Maylie fly out to center field, and later scored on a Ryo Fabre single up the middle to push Marymount's lead to 3-1. 
 
	- The Blazers would not go down quietly in the ninth inning as Cristian Reyna (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) managed to walk with one out. Rhue doubled down the left field line to put runners on second and third. Schwarzman knocked in both Reyna and Rhue with a single through the left side of the infield, to tie the game up at 3-3 to send the game to extra innings.  
 
	- Jordan Dickson led of the tenth inning with a double down the left field line to represent the go-head run for the Saints. The Blazers managed to retire the next two batters, but Chad Singleton came through for Marymount with a single up the middle to knock in Dickson. The Blazers went down in order in the bottom half of the inning as Marymount took home the win 4-3.    
 
For the Opponent 
	- Baker led the Saints going 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and had a walk. 
 
	- Maylie went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. 
 
	- Fabre went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. 
 
	- Dickson recorded a double, a run scored and a walk. 
 
	- Singleton ended the afternoon with an RBI.  
 
Notes
	- Hood falls to 3-2 on the year.  
 
	- Marymount (Va.) improves to 4-2.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday, Mar. 4 as they head on the road for a doubleheader against Cairn University at 12 p.m.
