Blazers bested at home to No. 1 Stevens


FREDERICK, Md. - No. 1 Stevens Institute of Technology proved too much for the Hood College men's volleyball team in a 3-0 final in Middle Atlantic Conference action.

  • Marc Fitzkee (York, Pa./Central York) had five kills and a service ace for the Blazers. 
  • Adam Bartice (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) added five assists.

  • The Blazers tallied kills from Fitzkee and Stutz to highlight the first set. 
  • Stevens biggest lead came after Nathan Lancia landed a kill to put the Ducks up 20-5.

  • Hood tied the set early at 1-1 after an attack error by Brandon Rodgers. Hood scored back-to-back points on an attack error by Hunter Schmidt and a service ace by Fitzkee still down 7-3. 
  • The Blazers scored back-to-back points to pull within 10 points, as Fitzkee had a kill that followed an attack error by Sebastian Huyke.
  • Stevens ended the second set on an 8-1 run that was guided by Blazer errors.

  • Fitzkee accounted for two of the four points in the final set with two kills. 
  • Jesse Knuckles recorded four kills and five service aces to lead the Ducks in the final set. 
For the Opponent
  • Lancia and Rodgers both had a match high in kills with six apiece.
  • Huyke finished with 14 assists and three kills. 
  • Kevin Herbst had 13 assists and nine service aces for the Ducks.
  • Rogers hit 6-1-7 in the match (.714).
