Men's volleyball befuddled at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Hood College men's volleyball dropped a 3-0 final at Arcadia in Middle Atlantic Conference play. 

Set Scores
  • The Knights won 25-11, 25-10, 25-15. 
Inside the Box Score
  • Marc Fitzkee (York, Pa./Central York) had nine kills and four digs. 
  • Adam Bartice (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) finished with 13 assists and a solo block. 
How it Happened
  • In the first set, Hood trailed just 6-4 after a kill by Javier Rojas before a 7-0 run by the Knights gave Arcadia a 13-4 lead. After Hood scored four of the next five points on Knights' errors, Arcadia went on an 11-3 run to close the set.
  • The Knights used a 14-3 run to break a 3-3 tie in set two, claiming a 17-6 lead on a service ace by Ryan Miller. The teams traded the next eight points, including Hood kills by Dan Blanchfield (Cambridge, N.Y./Cambridge Central), Caulten Cleveland (Bear, Del./First State Military Academy) and two by Fitzkee. Arcadia went on a 4-0 run to finish the set with Amadeus Cannon's service ace resulting in set point.
  • Cannon had back-to-back kills at the start of the third set as the Knights jumped ahead 9-3. Hood pulled within 12-10 on another kill by Fitzkee before a 13-5 surge by Arcadia closed the match.
Analysis
  • Arcadia hit a robust .412 in the match, while Hood checked in at .012. 
  • The Knights had 14 service aces to the Blazers' one. 
For the Opponent
  • Cannon and Josh Clendening combined for 14 kills in 16 attempts, with each player notching seven kills. 
  • Riley Kodidek dished out 28 assists. 
  • Andrew Ahn recorded four aces, four digs and three blocks.
