  • Colby Childs (Berryville, Va./Clarke County) let in one run on one hit in the fifth inning.
  • Mason Sawyers (Culpeper, Va./Culpeper County) received the win in relief for the Blazers. He allowed only one hit in a scoreless sixth inning.
  • Aaron Heller (Philadelphia, Pa./Jack Barrack Hebrew Acad.), Tyler Cooney (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) and Kevin Nelson, Jr. (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Twp.) all threw an inning to close out the game. The trio gave up one hit and recorded five strikeouts.
How it Happened
  • The Blazers took the lead in the third inning, as Schwarzman singled with one out. Following a balk by Albright that moved him over to second, he scored on Richard Kershow (Eatons Neck, N.Y./Northport) single up the middle for a Hood 1-0 lead.
  • Zander Tesoriere reached on an infield single to start the bottom of the third for Albright. He stole second and third and later scored on a Tommy Lewman sacrifice fly out to left field to tie the game up 1-1.
  • Day gave Hood the lead back to lead off the fourth inning with his second home run of the season.
  • Ethan Karel and Nick Barton both reached base on back-to-back at-bats to start the bottom half of the fourth. Karel scored on a Deklyn Marks single through the left side. Barton scored on a balk to grab the lead for the Lions 3-2.
  • In the fifth inning, Albright's Jack Gilmer walked and scored on a two-out Eddie Meredith single up the middle later in the inning to push the lead to  4-2.
  • The Blazers got their first three runners on base in the sixth inning with a Jenkins walk, a Day double and Jacob Saylor (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) hit-by-pitch. Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) walked with the bases-loaded to bring in Jenkins. Reyna scored Day on a sacrifice fly to center field. Stout doubled to bring in Saylor and Patterson and the scoring ended on a Schwarzman single up the middle to knock in Stout for a Hood 7-4 lead.
  • Hood put the game out of reach with an eight-run seventh inning. Day and Saylor each had two hits in the inning, including an RBI double by Day. Schwarzman, who had a run-scoring single in the rally, had two steals in the seventh.
