Dustin Miller (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) broke the discus record to lead the Hood College men's track and field team at the Millersville Metrics.
Record Keeping
- Tofunmi Okuseinde (Baltimore, Md./Parkville), Evan Ellington (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), Rell Asamoah (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) and Jamel Mins (Columbia, Md./Atholton) combined to run the 4x100 in 42.60 seconds. Not only did the quartet break the week-old record from the previous meet, but the Blazers also took the win in the event.
- Miller threw the discus 37.41 meters (122-9). He finished 15th overall but 0.75 meters (2-5) to Hood's previous record.
Highlights
- Mins was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 22.24. Asamoah placed ninth with a time of 23.16, tying him for fifth on Hood's all-time list in the 200.
- Chris Sappe (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.00, which was also third in program history.
- Ellington matched his time from the previous week in the 100-meter dash of 11.14. He finished eighth, just 0.01 seconds ahead of Mins. Mins moved up the Blazers' leaderboard in the event and is now third all-time.
- In the 10,000-meter run, Alex Seskar (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) was sixth with a time of 35:35.94, which ranks fourth all-time at Hood.
