4x100 team runs region best time at Shippensburg


SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The 4x100-meter relay team set a record for the third time this season to lead the Hood College men's track and field team at the Mid-Week Invitational, hosted by Shippensburg University. 

Record Keeping
  • Tofunmi Okuseinde (Baltimore, Md./Parkville), Evan Ellington (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), Rell Asamoah (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) and Jamel Mins (Columbia, Md./Atholton) combined to run the 4x100 in 42.49 seconds. The time, which gave the Blazers the win, overtook Westminster (Pa.) for the best time in the entire Mid-Atlantic Region.  
Highlights
  • Okuseinde ran the 100-meter dash and finished ninth with a time of 11.31 seconds. The time puts the first-year student fifth all-time in Blazer history. Asamoah finished right behind Okuseinde with a time of 11.36 seconds to finish 10th.   
  • Ryan Leonardi (Bowie, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) placed fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 43.95 meters (144-2).
