ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Hood College women's tennis team won its first Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth match with an 8-1 win at Eastern University.
Doubles
- The Blazers swept the three doubles points to take control of the match.
- Katie Cautero (Hackettstown, N.J./Lenape Valley) and Kate Haufe (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) were 8-6 winners at first doubles over GraceHope Stevens and Trinity Gruber.
- At second doubles, Cori Mark (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) and Mary Emma Guldi (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) won 8-5 over Sarah Mower and Rhyan Metzger.
- Lauren Sheffler (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) and Ridley Little (Bristol, Va./Virginia) defeated Morgan Robinette and Brittany Pancoast 8-1 at third doubles.
Singles
- Haufe picked up her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Gruber at No. 2 singles.
- Mark won 6-0, 6-0 over Mower at third singles.
- Guldi picked up a win in her first match of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Metzger.
- Sheffler won against Mercedes Lohmann 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5.
- At sixth singles, Little was a 6-2, 6-0 winner against Lily Steiner.
Notes
- Hood improved to 3-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
- Eastern fell to 2-4 and 0-3.
