Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – The tennis program concluded their sunset season against York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon and through the sunshine and the flash flood, fell 7-0 to the Spartans.
Pregame festivities began with Phil Harvin addressing the lone senior
Josephine Sasse (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) and greeting her with flowers and a picture frame.
Samantha Huffer (Lovettsville, Va./Woodgrove) took the microphone to follow to thank head coach
Phillip Harvin for his contributions to the team this season and to the community for supporting them down the stretch.
Each member post game was given gifts and food was to follow.
Doubles
In No. 1 doubles,
Natalie Mackie (Elkton, Md./Elkton) and
Samantha Huffer (Lovettsville, Va./Woodgrove) fell 6-0 to York's Serruto and Haggerty duo.
No. 2 doubles found a hard-fought match against
Anna Frye (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) and
Josephine Sasse (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) against York's Sult and Conte. The Blazers were edged out 6-4.
In the final doubles match,
Marina Olvera (Baltimore, Md./Patterson) and
Mileidy Ramirez (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) were defeated 6-0.
Singles
In the most exciting match of the day,
Anna Frye (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) duked it out with York's Serruto and points were scored back and forth until the visitor prevailed 6-4.
Natalie Mackie (Elkton, Md./Elkton) won two sets in her No. 3 singles match but fell 6-1, 6-1 to York's Haggerty.
Samantha Huffer (Lovettsville, Va./Woodgrove) also played in a must-watch match and got it started early but fell 6-2, 6-1 in No. 4 singles.
Marina Olvera (Baltimore, Md./Patterson) and
Mileidy Ramirez (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) both took a set in their losses.
