TOWSON, Md. – Hood College's
Tay Zechman (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon) won both the javelin and the hammer to lead the women's track and field team to third place at the ECAC Outdoor Championships at Goucher College.
Event Winners
- Zechman heaved the hammer 41.25 meters (135-4) for her first win of the afternoon. She picked up a second victory with a throw of 30.63m (100-6) in the javelin. The junior added a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 9.89m (32-5 1/2).
On the Track
- The 4x100-meter relay team of Iiyana Taylor-Sparks (Indian Head, Md./Lackey), Gloria Castillo (Puerto Cortes, Honduras/Meade (Md.)), Chloe McQuillen (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) and Shayna Hancok was second in 52.68 seconds.
- Aylene Noy (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) had a pair of second-place finishes. The first-year student completed the 5,000-meter run 22:12.70 and the 10,000-meter run in 46:25.28. She was joined in the 5,000 by Megan Mulholland (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South), Maddie Arbaugh and Marin Bartman (Middletown, Md./Middletown), who were third, fourth and sixth, respectively. Mullholland turned in a time of 23:11.22, 29 seconds ahead of Arbaugh's fourth-place time. Bartman clocked a 24:52.68.
- Ros Taylor (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) outkicked Hancock in the 400-meter hurdles to take third. Taylor finished in 1:13.45, 0.19 ahead of Hancock.
- Castillo qualified for the finals with a time of 13.35 and went on to finish fifth in the finals. Castillo's time in the prelims ranks fifth all-time at Hood. She was seventh in the 200 in 28.62.
- Megan Pezenosky (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) ran the 400 in 1:06.26 to take fifth.
- Ada Heller (Germantown, Md./Northwest) was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:44.06.
- Eric Correll placed eighth in the 1500-meter run in 7:04.33.
In the Field
- Taylor-Sparks was sixth in the long jump with a mark of 4.78 meters (15-8 1/4). The leap moved her into fifth place all-time at Hood.
Team Scoring
- Hood finished third with 93 points.
- Goucher defended its home track for the victory with 170.
