Women’s volleyball falls in tri-match

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's volleyball team could not solve Lancaster Bible or Lebanon Valley, as the Blazers fell 3-1 and 3-0 in a tri-match.

The Chargers won 25-23, 18-25, 25-14, 25-18. 

The Flying Dutchmen won 25-20, 25-10, 25-18.
 

In the day's other match, Lebanon Valley defeated Lancaster Bible 3-1.

MacKenzi Wright (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) led the team with 15 kills and 22 digs across the matches. 

Ann Ofoegbu (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) totaled 14 kills and
five aces on the day. 

Jackie Malitzki (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and Ainslee Barger (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) each collected 18 assists during the afternoon.

How it Happened
– Lancaster Bible 
The Blazers came up just short in their comeback bid in the first set after going on a 6-1 run to make the score 24-23 before the Chargers won the next point with a kill from Chloe King. 

Hood
took advantage of 14 Lancaster Bible attack errors in the second set to even the match at 1-1. 

The Chargers bounced back with an offensive outburst in the third set, which saw them go on a
7-2 run ending with back-to-back aces from Faith Hammond. 

Ashley Donald (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) finished off a 13-6 start to the fourth set with three
aces in a row, but the Chargers tied the game at 16-16 before scoring 14 of the set's next 16 points to close out the match. 

How it Happened – Lebanon Valley
 
After a tightly contested start to the first set, Lebanon Valley used three aces in a row from Kasey Thomas to spark a 7-0 run and take a 19-12 lead, eventually taking the set. 

The Flying Dutchmen finished the second set with an 11-1 run
, with Taylor McInerney ending the set with one of her 20 kills in the match. 

The Blazers were unable to take advantage of early Lebanon Valley attack errors, a
nd a kill from Lyla Arfanella would win the match for the Flying Dutchmen.
