How it Happened
The first set started off well for Hood, as the Blazers took advantage of some Wilson errors to go on a 10-4 run.
The Phoenix would not go down quietly though, rattling off a 7-1 run immediately after to tie the set at 11 apiece, then making a 4-0 stretch to tie it again at 18.
After whittling the Blazers' lead down to 23-22, Hood finished off the set with a kill from Bartice to take the early 1-0 match lead.
The second set was a much more even affair, with both teams trading points to get to a 14-14 score, with Hood going on a 4-1 run to try to take a commanding lead.
Wilson did not let them, scoring nine of the next 11 points to take a late 24-20 lead, and despite a Blazers comeback attempt with three points in a row, the Phoenix closed out the set to tie the match at 1-1.
Although Hood was never in control of the third set, they also never let Wilson get comfortable, matching each 3-0 run the Phoenix had with one of their own, tying the game at 14, 18, and 23. Wilson would close out the set with two straight points to take a 2-1 match lead.
Much like the others, the fourth set started off evenly, with both teams trading blows to the tune of a 15-15 tie before the Phoenix finished the set and match quickly with a 10-1 run as Xavier Webber was credited with the final four points and ending the match 3-1 in favor of Wilson.
For the Opponent
Andrew Sviben led the Phoenix with 18 kills and eight digs.
Webber finished the evening with five service aces.
