FREDERICK, Md. – The men's soccer team kept in reach of conference foe Messiah but the early two-goal deficit was too much as Hood fell 2–1.

How it Happened
Just minutes into the game, a failed clear by Hood landed in the kicking range of Messiah's David Lee as he kicked it out of the air and placed a perfect ball in the top-right corner to take the 1-0.
Later, Messiah attackers got clumped up at the top of the box and Lee with possession broke away from coverage and sent a bender towards on the top right of the goal again to go up 2-0.
Just moments later
Ange Simo (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) drives the ball to the left side of the goal and as he fades away finds a trailing
Jonathan Fuentes (Hagerstown, Md./Oakdale) and his punch-in brings the two-goal deficit duration to mere seconds and the score 2-1.
The lead almost went back to two goals in the 60' when a rocket that slammed off the top right woodwork and left it shaking but the clear kept the Blazers small deficit safe.
A foul deep in Falcon territory put a free kick opportunity on deck for the Blazers but the attempt hit the wall of blue Messiah jerseys and then was cleared.
In the closing minutes, A throw in by the Blazers resulted in a hard shot and a juicy rebound for the Hood attack but a mishit floated the shot above the goal.
Another dramatic finish for a men's soccer match at Hood College as a foul at midfield caused a free kick with 20 seconds left where the Blazers loaded everyone plus their goalie right in front of the net.
Jackson Quenzer (Westminster, Md./Gerstell Academy) launched a ball into the box that was rejected by a Messiah defender but Quenzer got hit own rebound to shoot on goal. His shot was saved as time expired with another Hood rally cut short.
