OWINGS MILL, Md. – On the road against Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent Stevenson and Goucher, the Hood College men's swimming team went even on the day, falling to the Mustangs but beating out the Gophers to start their season.

Hood beat Goucher 120-55.
Top Finishers
Ben Foster (Lexington, Md./Homeschooled) placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle event with an 11:33.91.
Jalen Chance (New Castle, Del./William Penn) and
Jacob Gardner () took home second and third in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 22.97 and 24.38, respectively.
Chris Krol (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschooled) grabbed silver in the 200-yard IM with a final time of 2:17.64.
Chance also finished in first place in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing almost five seconds ahead of second place with a 50.97.
Jacob Hauff (Nazareth, Pa./Pen Argyl Area) touched the wall in 1:03.61 in the 100-yard backstroke, good for third place.
Ethan Hubble (Middletown, Md./Middletown) swam a 5:26.86 500-yard freestyle to earn the team's second gold medal.
Gardner grabbed first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.69, while
James Martinez (New Market, Md./Linganore) grabbed third with his 1:08.81 finish.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Hauff, Foster, Hubble, and
Hank Machen (Knoxville, Md./Brunswick) ended the team's day on a high note as their time of 1:35.82 was good for first place.
